Geoff Parsons, Director

Geoff is responsible for the Group's sales and marketing. Recently appointed to the Board of the Central Council for Physical Recreation (CCPR), Geoff brings a wealth of high-level contacts, influence, creativity and knowledge across all of the By Design Group's work.

A double Olympic athlete and medalist at a number of major championships, Geoff has a truly world-class sporting pedigree and understanding of what it takes to achieve success.

Geoff was previously an engineering student at Imperial College, spent six years with one of Britain's top 100 companies and has worked extensively in British sporting and formal politics.

Paul Jones, Director

Paul manages all of the company's staff, suppliers, logistics, finance and administrative functions. He provides the 'engine room' leadership that makes the By Design Group's reputation for delivery second-to-none, ensuring a strong service-led approach is taken with all its clients.

An engineering graduate from Imperial College, Paul has transferred his management, information technology, administration and sales skills from the building materials industry to the By Design Group. He has also competed at national and county level in a variety of sports including windsurfing, badminton and cricket.

Josie Heath, Office Manager

Josie was appointed as Office Manager for the Group in July 2005. With her previous experience as a secretary and administrator, Josie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on how to make an office run smoothly.

We intend to use her organisational experience to the full! She will deal with most of the day-to-day administration functions, as well as assisting the team to free up their time so they can concentrate on their areas of speciality.

Robert Boyd, Manager (Learn by Design)

Bob has managed the Learn by Design education team since the summer of 1999. A graduate teacher and a former junior international athlete, he has been a successful deputy, head teacher and inspector in the independent school sector. He has also taught in the maintained sector at both primary and secondary schools through to A level. Bob is a successful and qualified coach in a range of different sports.

Karen Harrison, Education Co-ordinator (Learn by Design)

Karen was appointed Education Co-ordinator for Learn by Design in February 2005. A pro-active, enthusiastic and highly organised Sport and Exercise Science graduate, Karen has worked in the recreation sector for over four years. She is a qualified coach across many disciplines including football, athletics and rugby and as a keen competitor, she has won various playing honours, including netball player of the year at Nottingham Trent University for two successive years.

Mike Pipe, Education Communicator (Learn by Design)

Mike was appointed Education Communicator for Learn by Design in May 2005. He is an energetic and enthusiastic Sport and Recreation Development graduate who has worked part-time for the company since December 2003.

His sporting background includes district rugby for Nuneaton and Bedworth, trials for Birmingham Bullets basketball team and representing both Athersone Adders and Leeds Metropolitan University in mens hockey.

Mike brings a wealth of sport and recreation knowledge to the team, together with a proven track record of communicating with young people.

Nicola Carr, Fenscape Manager (Operations by Design)

Nicola joined By Design Group as Fenscape Manager in August 2005 after working on the Fenscape project as the Fens Horticultural Officer for the European funded Leader+ project.

Her previous experience in horticulture and museums education coupled with a degree in Heritage Studies and her management qualifications has given her valuable skills to bring to the job. Her enthusiastic, energetic and hardworking nature coupled with her skills and experience make Nicola the ideal person to further the Fenscape facility.

Keelie Gray, Fenscape Supervisor (Operations by Design)

Keelie was appointed Fenscape Centre Supervisor in August 2005 after working part-time at Fenscape since February. She is an enthusiastic and motivated Heritage Studies graduate with experience in customer service and retail. Her excellent communication and organisational skills enable her to provide a customer-focused service.

Mike Ridler, Coordinator (Consult by Design)

A Chemistry and Sport Science graduate from Loughborough University, Mike is a motivated and enthusiastic individual who joined the company in the Summer of 2004. He is also an experienced school communicator having worked for a year as a teaching assistant in a Primary School and more recently has gained experience in project management and consultancy.
