Project: Play strategy

Background

South Holland District Council wanted to create opportunities for young people to 'play' within the district - from parks and open spaces through to structured play groups and organised sessions.

To achieve this, the council chose Consult by Design to provide a strategic overview of the 'play' opportunities in the district whilst incorporating the latest government guidelines and thinking in to the action plan.

Action

Consult by Design discussed a methodology on how to proceed with the strategy with the overseeing Council Professional Officer.

We agreed the following aims and objectives:

• To audit the current 'play' provision
• To consult with relevant partners and parties
• To develop a new 'play' strategy
• To consult with the council and agree the new strategy

Result

Consult by Design is currently conducting the review and the draft play strategy with a three-year action plan to be delivered by 1 March, 2005 with a final document to be produced on the 1 April, 2005.
