Project: Cathedral Dash

Background

The npower Cathedral Dash is a 'Chariots of Fire' style race where an elite field of athletes run around a Cathedral (Lichfield, York, Lincoln and Birmingham) racing each other and trying to beat the chimes of the midday bells. In addition, a variety of kids races and community activities take place in the run up to the dash race which is held at 12 noon.

npower needed a company they could trust to provide a comprehensive and professional event management service for all of the dashes. They chose Consult by Design to deliver this.

Action

Consult by Design provided full event management services for the Cathedral Dash events, including:

• Provision of Event Manager, assistant and marshals
• Provision of public address announcer and commentator
• Onsite health and safety management and liaison
• Course design consultants

Result

CHosted at Lichfield, Birmingham, Lincoln and York, the npower Cathedral Dash Series was highly successful. All of the events ran smoothly and safely.

The events were also covered on TV, radio and in the press.
