Project: Health and safety in arts venues course

Background

Tamworth Borough Council recognised the need for exceptional health and safety training in theatres and other entertainment venues that welcome the general public. They employed Consult by Design to deliver this for them.

Action

Consult by Design utilised their own expertise of event management to create a comprehensive, one-day training course. This was undertaken using a variety of teaching methods including presentations, workshops and practical sessions.

Subjects covered included:

• Understanding health and safety legislation and how to comply
• Fire safety and emergency planning
• Practical risk assessments in venues
• Specific industry knowledge, eg working at heights, electricity at work

Result

Consult by Design delivered a successful training package and other organisations are now requesting similar training days.
