Spalding Triathlon a great success

Sunday, 17 July saw the Spalding Sprint Triathlon, incorporating the Lincolnshire County Championships, take place. The event was hailed as a great success with over 230 competitors and many supporters and families enjoying the brilliant sunshine at the Castle Sports Complex in Spalding.

The day had a real community atmosphere with family entertainment provided by South Holland District Council.

The event, which incorporated a 400m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run, saw Stuart Brown from the Loughborough University Performance Squad take first place for the men, with Vanessa Raw, also from the Loughborough University Performance Squad, come in first for the women.

Mat Stephenson from the Royal Air Force Triathlon Association and Lucy Nell from Total Fitness Nottingham, both from the Spalding area, were the first placed male and female from Lincolnshire. This has qualified them to represent the County in next month's Inter-County Triathlon Championships.
