CLIENT: ROYAL SOCIETY OF CHEMISTRY
Project: Sci-Sport presentation
Background
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) wanted to find a different way to approach science education in schools, to help pupils realise its relevance to everyday life.
They chose Learn by Design to create and deliver an entertaining, dynamic presentation to explained chemistry in a way students could relate to.
Action
Learn by Design scripted and produced the Sci-Sport presentation.
Designed to last from 45 - 60 minutes, this exciting, media-rich presentation involves a host of video clips and props and is usually delivered by one of Learn by Design's in-house Olympic presenters.
Although initially targeted at Key Stage 3 and 4 students, the lecture is easily transferable to an adult audience and has been used by the RSC to promote Chemistry Week.
Result
The Sci-Sport lecture has been delivered to more than 10,000 people over the past two years, including presentations at the Royal Academy, Cheltenham Science Festival and the Association of Science Educators annual conference.
Learn by Design has been re-commissioned by the Royal Society of Chemistry to refresh the content of the presentation post the Athens Olympics.
