Science by Design continues to engage students
Dec 2004
The Science by Design 2004-05 project continues to gather pace with over half of the first students contact sessions being delivered. The Physical Science workshop allows pupils to experience the world famous BATAK Board, race against their friends on rowing machines and compare the speed of their football shot to a certain Mr Beckham.
The project, which is engaging over 3,500 Year 9 students at 25 Secondary Schools in Birmingham, started in September, 2004 and continues until the end of the academic year.
Robert Boyd, Learn by Design Manager explained: "The Physical Science workshop is a hands-on, interactive session where we use a variety of sports equipment to illustrate everyday science topics. It's really exciting to watch the students engage in the session. The topics covered include speed and velocity, light and sound and even forces and friction, but don't worry, the workshop's been designed to be great fun and interactive."
