Facility: Fenscape Discovery Centre

Background

The Fencape Discovery Centre is an exciting new £1.4 million development at the Springfields Outlet Shopping Mall at Spalding in Lincolnshire. It combines a visitor attraction with an on-site learning room environment and retail outlet.

Lincolnshire Council needed a company who could manage all aspects of the operation, who had the necessary skills to operate the Tourist Information Service for the District Council and develop the facility in the future.

Following a competitive tendering process, they chose Operations by Design because of their proven ability to operate and manage complete projects, their long-term vision for the facility and enthusiastic, client-led approach.

Action

Operations by Design has a five year contract with Lincolnshire County Council and Fens Tourism to manage, develop and operate the Fenscape Discovery Centre.

This involves full day-to-day operational control of the centre including, marketing, partnership working, staffing and health and safety management. Overseen by the contract director, the management team includes an on-site manager and dedicated education officer.
