Objective

To co-ordinate a national tour visiting nine UK locations, debating, showcasing, presenting on and exhibiting information surrounding fuels and possible alternatives for the future. The programme intended to reach both sector specific experts from both industry and academia together with engaging with the public of all ages.

The project was intended to raise public awareness of the issue and give the RSC a flagship event for the National Chemistry Week, run biannually during November.

Solution

By Design developed the tour utilising partner expertise to deliver a number of workshops, exhibitions, debates and presentations which focused on a specific fuel theme for each of the locations visited. The 10 day tour explored everything from fuel cells to biodiesel and combined a programme including workshops for school children with presentations for both public and private sector audiences.

The tour also included a variety of exhibited materials including a hydrogen powered racing car, ethanol powered Lotus Elise, biodiesel Range Rover and clean engine technology Audi A8.

Arranging everything from key note speakers & presenters, venues and exhibition materials to logistics and transport, By Design also provided the core staff for the tour.

Results

The tour visited locations in Scotland, England and Wales engaging with over 3,000 people including RSC members, the general public, school children and industry & academic leaders.

This was the second national tour By Design have managed and delivered for the RSC and has been hailed as a huge success.
