Fenscape's successful lecture series continues in to the summer with six interesting and insightful talks to attend. 

The following lectures are £4.50 per ticket and include refreshments.

History of the Cottage Garden

The development of the cottage garden from a medieval hovel to the present day.  Discover the history of plants, their country names, old wives tales, whether carrots were orange and which plants protected the cottage from the local village witch.

The role of servants from grand mansions to middle class houses - an important part of the servants work being the feeding of the family.  In the great houses the cook was often second or third in the payment stakes.
